Enlightened Reading
If you followed my blog last month on babies or have been into my practice, then you will know I can’t stop talking about the human microbiome and the challenges faced by early disruptions at the start of life. I so appreciate all the science that is coming out as it is our best support, as practitioners of natural medicines. We have always known our protocols should be the first defense against symptoms over pharmaceuticals, but now science is giving us some real backing!
Informing our clients is essential and some of the best resources I have found come from the University of Utah Health Science Department. This website features a host of graphics that bring the science down to understandable talking points. In my last client newsletter, I featured David Perlmutter’s Brain Maker. And, while I embrace the content of the first chapters on the causes of disturbance, I absolutely disagree with his plan for restoring gut bacteria. I find his diet completely unrealistic for both the sustainability of our planet and in affordability for the populations we serve.
