Breastfeeding: A Key to a Healthy Future

This year’s World Breastfeeding Week theme chosen by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is “Breastfeeding: a key to sustainable development.” While broad and encompassing, the WIC Breastfeeding Advisory group met and decided that this theme really boils down to one thing – a healthy future – for everyone.

New Meal Patterns for CACFP

For the first time since the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) began operations in 1978, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the release of new meal patterns that will strengthen nutrition standards for food and beverages served to children in child care settings.

Health First Colorado – Colorado Medicaid’s new name

Effective June 27, 2016, member notices generated by the Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS) will be updated to replace references to “Medicaid” and “Colorado Medicaid” with the new name, “Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program).” No changes to member eligibility, coverage, benefits or choice of providers are associated with the name change.

Warm Connections comes to Eastside WIC

The Eastside Family Health Center WIC clinic in Denver has successfully begun a pilot program called “Warm Connections” that offers supportive interventions, parent education, developmental guidance and resource connection in the WIC setting.  These services are available to all Eastside Family Health Center WIC participants.
