Carroll Ave Bridge Closes

On Monday, July 25, the MD State Highway Administration will close the old Carroll Avenue bridge over Sligo Creek and demolish the deck. Rebuilding will occur over the next five months.  Detour routes have been set up, and a temporary pedestrian bridge installed to permit walkers and bicyclists through passage. New traffic signals have been installed to manage the detour at Sligo Creek Parkway (SCP) and Washington Adventist Hospital and at SCP and Maple Ave.

Marketing Expert Assists Members

Bilingual marketing specialist Edith Yanez is working with several CDA members to help them improve their marketing.  She is assisting Rincon Libreria Cristiana with website problems and a business plan, as well as LPI Printing, Law Office of Linda Cornelius and several others.  Edith is in Takoma/Langley on Wednesdays under contract to the CDA provide marketing assistance to members at no cost to members. Please call her at 571-332-0083 and make an appointment. Edith can help develop marketing plans and materials for your business and increasing sales.

Donate to Langley Park Youth

Gift certificates are requested from CDA businesses in support of the 4thAnnual Langley Park Back-to-School Jam on Saturday, August 6.  Your gift certificates will be awarded to families that participate in workshops to improve their health and wellness,parenting and student support skills. Sponsored by M-NCPPC and Prince George's County Parks and Recreation, the Jam will be held at the Langley Park Community Center with free family fun, games, activities, community resources, and more.  Call the CDA for more information.

Text Police Anonymously

Use your cell phone to send an anonymous tip to the Takoma Park Police Department by texting to 847411, and then typing "TPPDTIP" at the beginning of your message. Type as much detail as possible, to ensure that your tip is thoroughly investigated. If you see a crime in progress, contact the Takoma Park Police at 301-270-1100. To report an emergency that involves the need for fire or rescue services, call 9-1-1.

Crossroads Farmers Market

Fresh locally grown vegetables, fruits (including strawberries and blueberries), flowers, eggs, meats, herbs, bedding plants, along with hot food vendors make the market the place to go on Wednesdays.  Often local musicians perform and children's activities are provided.

Adopt-a Highway Cleanup

Meet at 6900 NH Ave
Join volunteers from the Takoma/Langley community in picking up trash and recyclables along a one-mile section of NH Ave.  Bags, gloves, neon vests, SSLs and refreshments provided.
