It's always a good time to start a scrap quilt and try again to whittle down that pile you've been accumulating, right? Well this issue is full of scrap quilt ideas. If you have a favorite that's not included, please drop me a note!

Katy/The Littlest Thistle has compiled a very comprehensive Quilting Fabrics Pre-Cuts Glossary.
Dot to Dot Quilting is something to consider dabbling in, and Angela/Quilting is My Therapy is the perfect person to offer some tips.
There are some items that make what we do so much easier, and it's worth checking out Must-Have Tools for Quilters by Faith/Fresh Lemon Quilts for We All Sew.
After reading How to Hang a Quilt on an Outdoor Wall from Sue/Sevenoaks Street Quilts, I went straight to Amazon.com, and will be trying this product during my next big photoshoot.

One of the most basic yet wonderful scrap quilts is the Postage Stamp Quilt, and Lynn/The Little Red Hen kindly shares her process.

Amanda Jean/Crazy Mom Quilts hosted a Scrap Vortex quilt along last year, and I love what Amanda/Material Girl Quilts did with her Scraptastic! Pieced backings can add alot to a quilt, and Amanda outdid herself using up more of her rainbow scraps, don't you agree? [materialgirlquilts]

An early Instagram sew along was the Scrappy Trip Around the World using the Quiltville tutorial. I adore Emily/Quilty Love's version!! Her palette and use of value is so striking!

The Inside Addition is another popular sew-along block, popularized by Jessica/
[alittlegressica]. Sarah/No Hats in the House created her stunning quilt with a low-volume background and the most enticing use of color in her blocks. [nohatsquilts]

Thanks to Vesta is my own homage to my grandma using the Cross Stitch block tutorial by Alyssa/Pile O'Fabric. Grandma not only taught me much about sewing, but also taught me cross-stitch when I was a young girl.

Sarah/Justice Quilts & Crafts created her gorgeous scrappy X Plus based on Perfect Union by Pat Bravo. Doesn't it just glow?

Kris/Sew Sunshine created String along with Me, a delighful
herringbone quilt using Maureen Cracknell Handmade's QAYG tutorial. [kmjarchow]

One of the first scrappy quilts I ever made was a string variation, Modern Halves Quilt, using the tutorial by Elizabeth/Don't Call Me Betsy on The Moda Bakeshop.

A fun modern scrap quilt is Alex/Teaginny Designs' Improv Strip Quilt, where her use of value just makes it! [teaginny]

Though there are plenty of links in the round-up above, here are a few with more scrappy quilt patterns as well as a couple of folks you'll want to follow if sewing with scraps is your thing.

The X and + Scrappy Quilt Tutorial by Badskirt is a personal favorite.
The String Quilt Block tutorial from Film in the Fridge was mentioned more than once as I considered quilts to share today.
10 Fun & Free Scrap Quilt Patterns compiled by SuzyQuilts.
Red Pepper Quilts is a wealth of information when it comes to scrap quilts. Just peruse her tutorials, and you'll find lots of ideas!
Ditto with Crazy Mom Quilts! She loves them and currently is on her own one a day pincushion challenge.

IN-STUDIO

One of the studio storage issues I've been wanting to tackle is my conglomeration of zippers. Inspired by what Katy/The Littlest Thistle did with hers, I came up with a solution that worked for my space.

And speaking of zips, I've posted a new tutorial for using Metal Zips 3 Ways on the blog, plus I'll be sharing more handy tips on making zipper pouches in the days ahead.

P.S. Though not actually made with scraps (but it certainly could be!), you've got to go see Katie/Sew Katie Did's Heart Strings Quilt. It certainly pulled at mine!
