In Focus:
You're invited! Voice of the Family - the Future of Humanity Conference
Dear Friend for Life
The fight for life, faith and family just keeps heating up!
Just last week the Justice and Electoral Committee MPs, declared that parents had no right to know that their under-16-year-old daughter was seeking an abortion. The report came out after Hillary Kieft, a mother whose daughter attempted suicide after her secret abortion, petitioned government to have the law changed. Certainly the best interests of our children - born and unborn - are not being taken care of by the government. Nor are the rights of parents to do their job - parent.
At Malborough Girls' High, a furor broke out last month when a 16-year-old student, who is male but identifies as female, was seen by a teacher to be using the girls bathrooms. When he had been accepted to the school, one of the stipulations was that he used the unisex bathrooms. Last Thursday it was reported that he could go on using the girls bathrooms at the school.
Youth constantly test the boundaries. In my day seniors were allowed to wear mufti to school with one stipulation - shirts had to have a collar. We didn't like that rule, because we wanted to wear t-shirts, so we staged a sit-in (all wearing t-shirts), made a general fuss and were given media coverage in the local paper. The school didn't back down, the rule stayed in force (which is just as well as it showed us that our teachers did have authority) and we got on with our senior high school lives. T-shirts are one thing, but the use of bathrooms is a private affair.
Backed by a culture that now bows to the wishes of the minority who cry foul every time anyone tries to speak up for the truth, this young boy managed to change the agreed terms of his enrollment - through disobedience. The school backed down, (which was inevitable anyway as they already chose to enroll a male in an all-girls school), they have lost their authority, and the privacy of the girls is now compromised.
Our families are being undermined from just about every conceivable angle, yet it is the family that makes a strong society. When our families thrive, so does society. When our families are not supported then they crumble and with them so does society as a whole.
No family is safe from the attacks which keep coming at an alarming pace and are ever stronger. Even in families where parents are doing everything they can to protect their children, the enemy infiltrates.
But there is hope!
This September 23rd to 25th, Family Life International NZ will be holding an international conference Voice of the Family - the Future of Humanity, where we can all come together to discuss the attacks and find strategies that will help us work together to build a new culture of life in our families, in our schools and in society.
The Family Life International NZ team would love to see you there and listen to your stories and concerns and together discuss how we can remain steadfast as the mighty storm rages around us and our precious families.
Following the main conference is LifeFest 2016 - an awesome opportunity for youth aged 13 to 30 to come together and learn how to easily identify the poison being fed to them and counteract it with truth. Two whole days filled with dynamic and engaging speakers, fun activities and prayer, LifeFest 2016 is definitely not to be missed! Held on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th September, the first week of the school holidays, youth from all over the country are expected to attend!
Don't miss this opportunity to hear expert speakers from around the world, attend workshops and have those all important discussions with people who are just as concerned as you about the current situation. This conference is going to give you the booster shot you need to keep on fighting the good fight for truth in love.
I am really excited by the calibre of the speakers we have been able to secure for this most important conference! Our Keynotes this year are:
Gabriele Kuby - Author of the Global Sexual Revolution: Destruction of Freedom in the Name of Freedom (available from FLI). A sociologist and leader in the fight against gender ideology in Europe, Gabriele is certainly one speaker you will want to hear! Yesterday, LifeSiteNews published an interview with Gabriele also featured is a short 8 minute video of her speaking (in German, but with subtitles) - definitely worth taking the time to view.
Jason Jones - The Founder of Movie to Movement and an award-winning film producer, Jason is passionate about engaging people in the positive message of life through the power of film. Abortion has touched Jason personally and it drives him to be a courageous witness to the beauty of life! Crescendo is a wonderful short film which he co-produced which you can watch for free on YouTube!
John-Henry Westen - Editor-in-Chief of LifeSiteNews is a powerhouse of information. He has his finger on the pulse and has a deep knowledge of today's current situation. Don't miss this opportunity to talk with John-Henry about the issues most concerning you.

At World Youth Day in 2011, Benedict XVI said "Dear friends, may no adversity paralyze you. Be afraid neither of the world, nor of the future, nor of your weakness. The Lord has allowed you to live in this moment of history so that, by your faith, his name will continue to resound throughout the world."
I do pray that you can join us for this most important conference in September so that in this moment of history where the situation in so many ways seems dark, you will be encouraged to courageously speak the truth in love, radiating the light of Christ who alone has the Victory!
