An Exhibit Curated by Pilar Arthur-Snead
On View: July 1 – August 26, 2016
Artist Reception: Friday, July 29, 5 PM – 9 PM
Photographic Expressions Studio & Gallery, LLC is pleased to present the solo exhibition of selected works by Rachel Breidster, “A Given Sense of Place." The exhibition includes twenty color photographs and will be featured in the gallery from Friday, July 1st to Friday, August 29th, 2016. The artist reception will take place on Friday, July 29th. This dynamic set of photographic images focuses on abandoned spaces, specifically an abandoned prison farm situated near Atlanta, Georgia and a stumbled upon graveyard of cars lost in the backwoods of White, Georgia.
Breidster’s work gives us an intimate sense of tension between nature and man made objects and spaces. Her photographic worldview is imbued with reverence for the rogue doings of nature and the places that we humans choose to inhabit. Through Breidster’s images we enter languid realms, adrift and untethered from present time. These spaces and objects, which once contained presence, souls if you will, are now taken over by the soul of nature itself.
Rachel Briedster’s photographs have been exhibited throughout the Capital Region, including a recent exhibition at the Romaine Brooks Gallery in Albany, NY.
