Resisting Imperialism in defense of basic human rights. An excellent article titled Hope in 2011: Peoples, Civil Society Stand Tall makes the important observation that both in Iraq and Palestine, mass oppression, torture, and illegal military actions may have taken their toll on individual innocent lives, but it has served only to strengthen the resolve of those populations. Additionally, these two grand examples have served to inpire civil society leaders "representing every religion, nationality, and ideology." This is a trend which is sure to continue into the new year.
ACTION ITEM
Strengthen your resolve. New Year's resolutions abound; and as one article pointed out, these resolutions "barely last longer than a week." Well, that might be true for the difficult vice-driven changes such as quitting smoking, drinking, or gambling, but the resolve to promote liberty is much stronger than that. This week we offered our 10 suggestions for non-violent rebellion, and we received many more from our readers. Be courageous in your dedication to whatever principles feel right for you; this coming year will demand even more from all of us as we seek to bring more information to light from those who derive their power from operating in the dark. Defiance breeds victory.
OUR MISSION AND HOW YOU CAN BECOME ACTIVE
We want to help contribute to the mass awakening that is taking place. The mainstream media is part of a system that aims to keep people ignorant and unquestioning. It is essential that information continues to flow from the alternative media, so that opposing viewpoints can be heard. The global movement toward Internet censorship is troubling. We are optimistic, though, because history shows that all attempts to oppress free humanity are doomed to failure. However, we can no longer remain passive; the period of cold, creeping tyranny that legislates its way into power is over. When oppression reaches this "hot" stage, we need activists. The next period will be defined by how well we are able to overcome our conditioning and resist what we know in our hearts is the wrong course. You can become active through education, spreading the word, but, most importantly, practice what you preach. Tyranny is no match for freedom.
Liberty, Love, and Peace will Prevail!
