Bregman nears cycle in Futures Game

 Games played July 9-10, 2016

Alex Bregman

Astros prospect Alex Bregman (AAA) tripled, doubled, and singled in the All-Star Futures Games on Sunday. The #2 overall pick in the 2015 amateur draft also saved a run at third base before moving over to shortstop. "Bregman's big day comes at a time when the Astros are contemplating when to add him to the big league club," wrote MLB.com's Richard Justice. "He has played so well that he seems likely to be a second-half boost for the roster of a team that has sprinted its way back into contention."

July 10 games

Oakland 3B Danny Valencia walked twice and made two errors in a 2-1, extra-inning loss to Houston. The second miscue, on a toss to first base, allowed the Astros to score the winning run.Valencia's 13 errors are tied for second-worst in the Majors. Houston reliever Scott Feldman did not play Sunday.

Brewers LF Ryan Braun went 0-for-4 in a 5-1 loss to the Cardinals. He and his wife are expecting their second child in September.

Toronto CF Kevin Pillar hit three singles in a 6-1 win over Detroit. He's hitting .440 over his last 7 games. Pillar fielded two balls hit by Tigers 2B Ian Kinsler: a fly out in the 3rd inning, and a triple in the 5th.

Reliever Richard Bleier did not play in the Yankees' 11-7 win over Cleveland.
