LNA Welcomes Robin Hendrick-Lane as the new Director of Membership

We are thrilled to share with all of our members and supporters that the Lakeshore Nonprofit Alliance has hired Robin Hendrick-Lane as our first ever Director of Membership. Robin comes to LNA after spending the majority of her career in the furniture industry in a diverse number of roles including Project Manager, Marketing Manager, Sales Manager, Vice-President and Owner/Partner. Robin will fill a critical role for us as she becomes the primary liaison to our 100+ members. As Director of Membership she will help us respond to membership needs/inquiries, design and manage future benefits, identify and recruit prospective members, and oversee communications for the organization. We can't wait for members to meet her! Robin's official start date is July 14th and she can be reached at the following email: robin@lakeshorenonprofits.org

Attention NW Ottawa County Nonprofits!

Thanks to a recent grant provided by the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance (LEDA) is currently offering a limited number of diversity and inclusion workshops to nonprofits residing in NW Ottawa County. Given the current social unrest in the country, this may be the ideal time to learn how your organization can become part of the solution. If you are interested or would like to learn more, click Here to find out what LEDA has to offer.

New Nonprofit Office Space Available

For those that may be looking for low-cost rent in the Holland area, there may be a new space for you to consider. The building located on 270 James St. in Holland (currently owned by the American Red Cross) is looking to create a shared nonprofit consortium. Details are below in the following attachment on what would be included in this shared space model.

Come Learn about Infographics

The popular trend of using infographics to communicate your nonprofit's message isn't going away. Come join the Nonprofit Communication Learning Circle next week and learn from Darlene Kuipers, Director of Business Development for Tulip Time and Laura Dozeman from The Image Group, who will be presenting on how to use infographics as part of nonprofit communication strategy. Attendees will then have an opportunity to share their experience with using infographics along with a time for Q&A. Join us on Wednesday, July 20th (Noon - 1:30pm) at the Herrick District Library.

Executive Director Learning Circle

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 26 (8 - 9:30am) at Compassionate Heart Ministries' new building in Zeeland! This is a great space for leaders to come together and learn that the challenges they face in running a nonprofit organization are not unique to them. One item we will spend some time on at this next meeting is the Department of Labor's new Overtime Rule and how different organizations are choosing to interpret and respond to these changes.

Nonprofit Guidance on Overtime Rules

The U.S. Labor Department announced overtime final regulations recently that will go into effect on December 1, 2016. Please educate yourself on this matter and make sure that you are in compliance. A helpful place to start is by reviewing this following document outlining how this new regulation specifically affects nonprofits: Overtime Rule - Nonprofit Guidance

Pathways MI and Arbor Circle Merger

Recently Pathways MI and Arbor Circle made the announcement that they would be merging. This marks a milestone event as the two organizations seek to deliver more efficient and effective service through this re-organization. We congratulate the leadership of each organization for coming to such a landmark decision on behalf of the greater good.
