Taster Day
Year 10 Sixth Form Taster Day saw students given an insight into what life as a Sixth Form student would be like as they tasted sessions from all Sixth Form courses.
Students created their own timetables and choose which lessons they wanted to experience.
The day gave them the opportunity to see what their current subjects (English, History and Maths) would be like at A-Level, and also allowed them to try subjects they cannot currently study (Sociology, Psychology and Law).
Students spent time in the Sixth Form Centre, attended an assembly - which included mention of the Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday, November 9 - and took part in a general knowledge quiz.
Head of Sixth Form Anjaja Sharma said: “Students enjoyed the opportunity to gain an insight into Sixth Form life and it gave many of them the chance to really think about what subjects they might study. Whilst some realised that certain subjects might not be the right choice, others embraced subjects they had not previously considered."
Feedback was very positive with students highlighting the “great practicals and experiments in Science and Product Design†and how “drama was fun, interesting and a subject I definitely want to studyâ€.
Abbie Braddick said: “I really enjoyed the day. I had the freedom to experience Sixth Form life and facilities.
"The lessons were very different to GCSE and focused on independent learning. I need to work hard to get those grades!â€
