The Cape Cod Council of Churches is blessed by hundreds of volunteers who allow our wor k to reach a broad range of our neighbors who are in need. In fact, over 400 volunteers assist our seven programs each year. And in 2015, volunteers donated over 14,000 hours of their time! Wow. Without this help, the scope and nature of our work would be much more limited.
Volunteers' duties vary widely, from sorting donations at A Baby Center, to serving on Advisory Committees, to teaching cooking classes at transitional living houses. We have friends who have been of part of our ministries for well over a decade, and others who are new.
We are welcoming to the central office our newest agency volunteer, a Summer Intern! Addy Terry-Welsh is volunteering 10 hours per week through the summer months, and we are delighted to have her. Addy is a rising high school senior. She has worked extensively on many local social service projects, including efforts to raise awareness about breast cancer treatments. Addy will be helping us with various office projects, many related to the Generations of Hope event. In addition, she will be helping out at A Baby Center so that she is exposed to our hands-on work. Welcome Addy!

It's Summer vacation time! This is our July/August issue and our next issue will be in your mailbox in September.
Youth StreetReach Annual Cookout
All are welcome this Sunday, July 17 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Sea Street Beach in Hyannis for our Annual Youth StreetReach Cookout. Vans will pick up guests beginning at 11:15 and continuing until 1:00 p.m. at NOAH, Pilot House, CHAMP, BayBridge, Veterans Center and others. Hands of Hope Outreach Center is in need of volunteers to assist in the Food Pantry and Thrift Shop. Lots of open dates and times. Pick hours that are good for you! Summer, Fall, Winter, or Spring, even if you are only on the Cape for part of the year…we are happy to meet you and could use your help. Come every week, every other, once per month, or occasionally during the year as a substitute. No lifting, stocking, sorting required… but plenty of that to do if you wish. Meet and volunteer with friendly, fun folks!

On Good Faith
The Council produces On Good Faith which is a monthly television show that airs on Channel 99. Hosted by Rev. Jonathan Ahnquist, On Good Faith welcomes guests who are community leaders and participants in health and human service organizations. The topic of our latest episode is "Zion Union Heritage Museum" and the featured guest is John Reed, President of the museum.

Duffy Health Center Organizes “Christmas in July” Drive to Benefit Homeless on Cape Cod
Duffy Health Center will be collecting items to help people who are homeless and those at risk of being homeless stay safe in the heat this summer. Donations of sunscreen, deodorant, and boxes of granola bars are welcome. Cash donations will be used for the purchase of backpacks. Checks made out to Duffy Health Center and other items can be dropped off until July 19 at the reception desk in the lobby of Duffy Health Center, 94 Main Street Hyannis, Monday – Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM. Incarceration and Its Impact On Families, Society and Us
Amazing Grace invites you to join us for an evening forum on Incarceration and Its Impact On Families, Society and Us which will be held Monday, July 25, 2016, 7:00-8:30 pm at Saint David’s Episcopal Church in South Yarmouth, MA. A panel of parents and advocates will share their experience and answer questions.

Gregorian Chant Retreat
August 3-7
Unravel the mysteries of the neumes on this four-day beginners chant retreat, August 3-7 at the Community of Jesus in Orleans, culminating in the celebration of the Feast of the Transfiguration. In a stunningly beautiful setting, study the vast history of Gregorian chant, learn how to read ancient and Roman neumes, and work with the Latin language, opening up the basic conversation of chant.
