Please join Seattle City Councilmembers Sally Bagshaw, Lorena González, and Lisa Herbold for a Paid Family Leave Symposium sponsored by the University of Washington Schools of Public Health and Social Work and the Seattle Women’s Commission.

Panel discussions will address:
  • Evidence and Importance of Paid Family Leave including the impacts on labor force participation and public health
  • Models of Paid Family Leave including Scope, coverage, length and different models of leave in the US
  • Implementation and Financing Paid Family Leave including best practices, goals, and concerns.
Special speakers:
  • Howard Frumkin, Dean of UW Public Health
  • Jennifer Romich, UW School of Social Work faculty
  • Marilyn Watkins, Economic Opportunity Institute
  • Ellen Love, San Francisco Office of Labor Standards Enforcement
  • Assistant Professor Maya Rossin-Slater, University of California Santa Barbara
