CDA, Property Managers Plan Clean Up Day

The CDA met with several property managers this week to discuss a Spring 2016 Clean Up Day, where property owners would undertake maintenance on their properties such as sweeping, powerwashing, litter pickup, and landscaping. Tenants could participate by washing windows and doors, refreshing window displays, improving their business' facade and "front of the house." The date will be selected for April or May 2016. Other topics discussed were holiday decorations to enhance shoppers' experience during the December holidays. The CDA will explore how to add decorations at one or two locations. The CDA proposed an amenities partnership with property owners whereby owners install planters at their centers and the CDA maintains them.

New CDA Assistant

Melissa Avery began working as a part-time contractor for the CDA this week, providing administrative and communications support for marketing initiatives, member outreach, special events, and contract management.  In her first few days, she created marketing materials for the October 4 Takoma Park Street Festival promoting the Holton Lane Mural, November 8 Diwali festival, and November 14 Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup.  Melissa has considerable experience working with small businesses, runs her own nonprofit, and brings ideas and skills the CDA needs to implement work plans and broader mission.
