A Conversation with Kate McGrath and Tim Fisher

Nine News Chief of Staff, Kate McGrath, and Broadsheet Editorial Director, Tim Fisher, join our conversation night this month, to explore the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for both TV and online, and where PR fits within the mix. The session will be led by Red Agency Principal, Grant Titmus.  
Kate McGrath, Chief of Staff, Nine News Melbourne

Since starting her career in the Melbourne Ten Newsroom in 2000, Kat McGrath has risen to role of Chief of Staff at both Ten News and now rival, Nine Network.  Best known for her role as Ten News Court Reporter, Kate has covered the high profile trials of Tony Mokbel, Thomas Towle, Peter Dupas and the sentencing of Carl Williams. She has twice taken out the Law Institute of Victoria’s Best TV report award, and was also awarded the 2008 Columb Brennan Award for Excellence in Court Reporting. With experience on both sides of the fence, Kate’s career also saw her take on the role of Public Relations Manager for Myer.

Tim Fisher, Editorial Director, Broadsheet

Tim has edited magazines and websites for News Corp, Architecture Media,and Lifelounge and written for a range of publications including The Age, Smith Journal, triple j Magazine, and White Horses. He became the longest-serving editor of Surfing Life magazine, managing the publication's move to various digital platforms. In 2013 Tim joined the board of the Emerging Writers'​ Festival, ran the Online Journalism subject in RMIT University's undergraduate and post-graduate journalism degrees and worked in communications for the Victorian Council of Social Services and The Ian Potter Foundation. In 2014, he joined Broadsheet Media as editorial director.
