Yet, for consumers simply looking for greater transparency and increased visibility on product labels, there’s no question that the heightened awareness - and initiative taken by organizations like the Non-GMO Project - have meant a year of big progress!
This month, as we celebrate Non-GMO month, we’re sharing healthy tips, recipes & more, to help you exercise your right to choice!
*Don't Forget* - Our Customer Appreciation Event continues through the month, so be sure to check out the great deals we have in-store HERE!

5 Healthy Tips for Non GMO Month!
1. Although no genetically modified fish, fowl, or livestock have yet been approved for human consumption, plenty of them are raised on GM feed such as corn and soy. To avoid products from animals fed GMOs, look for organic products, wild caught (such as wild fish or game), and 100% grass-fed animals.
2. If a non-organic product made in North American lists “sugar†as an ingredient (and NOT pure cane sugar), then it is almost certainly a combination of sugar from both sugar cane and GM sugar beets. Instead, opt for sweeteners like Pure Cane Sugar, Maple Syrup and Coconut Sap Sweetener to ensure avoidance of GMOs.
3. Seedless watermelons, cucumbers and unique fruits like Pluots are often mistaken for GMO’s. Actually, they’re hybrids – produced using techniques practised safely for generations! Hybrid fruits can be certified as organic, and those that are must not contain GMOs!
4. Some supplements contain hidden sources of GMO’s, including soy and corn derivatives, or use GM microorganisms to produce their end-products. Look for products bearing the NON-GMO project seal, or those that explicitly indicate they do not contain GMOs!
5. Products that carry the Non-GMO Project Seal are independently verified to be in compliance with North America’s only third party standard for GMO avoidance, including testing of at-risk ingredients.
