IUIS Newsletter #10: An eventful fall for IUIS
The 4th edition of the ECI took place in Vienna, September 6-9, 2015. The conference focused on four main tracks: adaptive immunity, diseases of the immune system, innate immunity and disease intervention.

IUIS actively participated throughout the four days of Congress holding several business and scientific meetings. See: IUIS Program @ ECI 2015

The ECI was also a chance for IUIS committees to meet and exchange successes, as well as challenges and opportunities with the IUIS Executive Committee.

Committee Features
Each quarterly newsletter we feature the work of one or two IUIS committees.

Quality Assessment and Standardization Committee (QAS)

For the last day of the ECI, the Quality Assessment and Standardization Committee (QAS) gave an educational course pointing out the importance of standardization for the immunology. The current developments in complement analysis and international quality assessment, the challenges in monoclonal antibody standardization, the international standardization in autoantibody testing  and different approaches for detection and quantification of multipleallergens in allergen extracts were the main topics that our scientists raised.

Vaccine Committee  (VAC)

NEW: The Vaccine Committee is the newest Committee to join the IUIS. Its inaugural meeting was held during the ECI in Vienna to set initial goals and objectives. If you are interested in supporting the development of the IUIS platform for vaccines, please contact Sumiko Tanaka at the IUIS Central Office.
IUIS and its official journal, Frontiers in Immunology, have organized Research Topics as proceedings of the Immunocolumbia 2015 meeting.

Immunocolumbia 2015 Research Topics are designed to provide a forum for all registrants to contribute articles that correspond to one of four main themes:

  • Proceedings of Immunocolombia 2015: Adaptive Immunity
  • Proceedings of Immunocolombia 2015: Innate Immunity
  • Proceedings of Immunocolombia 2015: Immune System Diseases
  • Proceedings of Immunocolombia 2015: Intervention

Anyone can submit a manuscript.  We also welcome contributions from those who do not have an opportunity to present their work at the meeting, so as to give them an opportunity to be recognized as participants and actively working in one of the areas covered by the various symposia.

Submissions may be of various article types (Original Research, Reviews, Methods, Protocols, Data Reports etc).
