I'm pleased to announce that my 'Lolli-poppies' mural in Old Town Fort Collins is finished! I have nothing but praise for Markell Young and his crew The Finishers who did the actual painting of the mural. They began on Monday, August 24 with wall preparation and continued with transfer of my design, taping and masking around each separate area, spraying colors, and putting the final touches on the masterpiece on Tuesday, September 22. I added my 'Artist' signature the following day.
FirstBank set up a time lapse camera to record the entire mural creation process. I'm looking forward to seeing the compiled video, and I'll share a link to it as soon as I receive it! I posted a lot of my own in-progress photos to an album you can see here. To watch a short video of the crew working on the mural, click here.
Want to see the mural up close and in person? You have a perfect chance this Friday, October 2 from 6-9pm when FirstBank hosts the first-ever Pop Up Art Cart event in the parking lot. Sponsored by Art Lab, Pop Up Art Carts "provide an opportunity for local artists to share and sell their art in unexpected places throughout Old Town Fort Collins. Pop up art expands the available space for artists to show their work while expanding the creative community." For more information, visit the ArtLab website.
Four artists are participating with Pop Up Art Carts this Friday: Chris Bates, Amelia Caruso, Bonnie Lebesch, and Elizabeth Morisette. I'll be there in the bank parking lot visiting the event too -- maybe I'll see you then!
