2015 LeadingAge DC Annual Meeting
The 2015 LeadingAge DC Annual Meeting was held on September 30, 2015. Over 50 people were in attendance. Christie Hinrichs, CEO of Tabitha kicked off the meeting with her talk " Blank Page. She reminder members that “we need to get back to people work." Dan Cinelli from Perkins Eastman brought the group into the year 2025 as he talked about the future of the aging field. Larry Minnix, CEO of LeadingAge, closed the meeting with a discussion about how not-for profit organizations are expanding their missions to make America a better place to grow old. 2015 - 2016 LeadingAge DC/MD Leadership Academy

Federal Update
- Millions available to fund research on IT tools that improve resident safety. Long-term care providers can use funds from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to research strategies for improving resident safety through information technology (IT) and other evidence-based tools.
- How services will shape the future of senior housing. Three trends will dominate senior housing over the next decade, according to Stuart Kaplan, chief executive officer of CAST Patron Selfhelp Community Services.
- Disaster preparedness planning toolkit from Enterprise Community Partners. Enterprise Community Partners has developed Ready to Respond: Disaster Staffing, a robust and customizable toolkit specifically for multifamily housing providers nationwide.
- CMS extends the comment period for the Requirements of Participation Proposed Rule.
- Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation (IMPACT) Act. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will hold a call on Wednesday, October 21, from 1:30-3:00 p.m. to discuss the IMPACT Act of 2014, which is intended to standardize data collected from skilled nursing facilities, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, long-term care hospitals and home health agencies.
