Programme Announcement #2!

After last week's first taste of films in our programme, here is our second announcement featuring the opening and closing night films of the festival. The Adelaide schedule is unveiled, with tickets going on sale Monday! And there's also a sneak peek at this year's NETPAC Award jury below!

What's the Time in Your World?

We are thrilled to announce What's the Time in Your World? as the OPENING NIGHT FILM for IFFA 2015.

Leila Hatami, Ali Mosaffa

Goli makes a snap decision to return to her hometown in Iran after living in France for 20 years. She is greeted by Farhad, a man who knows everything there is to know about Goli, but she cannot remember him. Her personal pilgrimage is first met with disdain but she soon reconnects with her past.
 

What's the Time in Your World? was a hit at last year's Busan International Film Festival, and won the FIPRESCI Award. The film was praised for its structure, intense narrative and complex storytelling.

"We all agreed that there appeared many love stories in film history but it was great to see this unusual variation presented by remarkable performances." - Busan Jury


What's the Time in your World? is screening in all cities around Australia.

Golab Adineh, Saeed Aghakhani, Hooman Seyedi, Vishka Asayesh, Mahsa Alafar, Sara Bahrami, Pantea Panahi Ha

After a rock is thrown through a window, two families become intertwined in a dispute after an incident following an unsuccessful marriage. The couple in question try to hash out what actually went wrong, as the surrounding family members point fingers at one another. Tension builds as all of their other problems seem to bubble to the surface at the same time.

Tavakoli masterfully directs this ensemble, with charm and cinematic ingenuity.

The film received a Special Mention for Best Supporting Actor and Best Director at the Fajr International Film Festival.


I am Diego Maradona is the Closing Night Film for all cities around Australia.

A group of six self-proclaimed “orphans” from an online community roam the city of Tehran for a good time. After a prank seemingly goes wrong, they become entangled in blackmail. As they try to come up with the money, the remnants of their troubled pasts resurface.


Winner of Best Director and the Audience Award at The  Fajr International Film Festival in 2015, Crazy Castle is sure to entertain.

NETPAC Jury Announcement!

This year's prestigious NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asia Pacific Cinema) Award is now under deliberation and includes the five films by first and second time directors at IFFA this year. The films will be judged by Herman van Eyken (Chair), a scriptwriter, director, researcher and member of many prestigious film societies in the Asia Pacific region, Richard Sowada, head of films programs at ACMI, and world-renowned Iranian artist, Hossein Valamanesh.
