Opus Anglicanum: Light with narrator Zeb Soanes
Friday 9 October, 7pm (doors and bar 6:30pm)
In this evening of art and science in perfect harmony Opus Anglicanum bring us a programme of music and words exploring and celebrating the history of light.
The music features works by Josquin, Tchaikovsky and William Byrd alongside a number of special commissions such as Judith Bingham’s glorious piece describing St Hilda as a necklace of light illuminating Britain.
The texts, chosen by John Allen, Emeritus Professor of Physics St Andrews University, range from Ibn al-Haytham in 11th century Cairo, through Newton’s argument against the wave nature of light to Einstein’s 1905 discovery of the wave-particle duality of light.
The readings are complex and intriguing, fun and memorable.
