Dear Member
While I was on holiday last week I unfortunately missed the opening of the Ai Weiwei exhibition at the Royal Academy and was also sad to learn of the death of the Evening Standard art critic Brian Sewell. I think the world of art criticism is an emptier place now that Brian's outspoken views on Contemporary Art have been terminated. Here is an example of his legacy: Serota should be awarded the Turner prize, “for furthering so many worthless careers”. For his part, Serota retorted that he championed the likes of Richard Long and Joseph Beuys because “it was everything Brian Sewell hates”.
Best wishes
Paul
