AMST News:

--  Thank you to all who joined Dr. Adrienne Brown for lunch and came to hear her talk.  Many great discussions were had.  Be sure to join us for the next event in the series.

--  As Delayne’s responsibilities grow within the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, we all felt it best to begin transitioning the graduate secretary responsibilities from Delayne to Brandi.  This transition will take place over the academic year. For questions regarding graduate student status, please email both Brandi and Delayne until we transition completely.

--  We are working on some updates to the American Studies website, so make sure to check that often.  Graduate students, be looking for emails from Brandi regarding a student show case project.  Each month a graduate student and their research will be showcased.

--  Please make sure to use the link below for submissions.  Be sure to send news/events you wish you announce or you may email Brandi.  We don't want to miss anything!

Congratulations
  • First year graduate student, Megan Williams had the honor of introducing Frank X Walker at his reading and book signing.  Megan also spoke with the Purdue Exponent discussing Walker's visit to campus.

  • First year graduate student, Andrea Adomako spoke to the Purdue Exponent of her excitement in seeing the art exhibition at the BCC featuring original paintings by Yvette Qharles Chatman.

  • Dr. Bill Mullen's new book Un-American, rethinks the late DuBois. Available now from Temple University Press.

  • Dr. Cooky has now become a 100% appointed faculty member in American Studies.  If you haven't already, please join us in congratulating her.  You will find her in HEAV G5 once the move is completed.
In an effort to better highlight and celebrate the wonderful work by American Studies students, faculty, and alumni we are launching Last Friday, a monthly newsletter for our program.

As the name suggests, the newsletter will go out on the last Friday of each month during the academic year, an apt moment to reflect on the events of the past month and signal the activities in upcoming weeks.
