What makes your business unique?

There’s still just time to squeeze in your slot for a free seminar, What makes your business unique? taking place on Wednesday 30 September, 2-4pm at the Riviera Hotel, Alum Chine. We’ve invited Graham Foster from branding agency We Are Drawn In to explain how you can make your business stand out from your competitor’s, to focus on what makes yours unique and how branding can help you get straight to your target audience.

Coping with cranky customers!

However experienced and well trained, everyone gets pushed to the limit by difficult customers on occasion.  Spotting the warning signs before conflict erupts and learning how to rescue a heated situation is key.  We’re offering a subsidised course, Handling Customers, Conflict and Complaints on Tuesday 13 October to address these issues.

Centrally located in the Executive Business Centre, Holdenhurst Road, the course costs £45 including a light lunch.

Make sure all visitor-facing staff is well equipped, book now, by contacting Jacky Thorne.

Who’s the Best in the Business?

Most businesses strive to apply best practice – but who can really lay claim to being the best? We’ve published a new series of coastal case studies picked from the length and breadth of the country. Read about the couple in Northumberland who transformed a derelict church into a multi-award winning B&B, the obsolete Cornish tin mine that’s now a thriving visitor attraction or the East Yorkshire farmers who turned crumbling outbuildings into luxury self-catering cottages, attracting top-end clients and employing seven full time staff.

Destination FeelGood

Our recent Destination FeelGood event held jointly with Bournemouth University, highlighted the success of our ‘ideas cafés’ which took place over a year in Bournemouth, Dorchester and Weymouth. The project focused on the opportunities for health and wellness tourism in Dorset. Speakers included Andy Woodland from The Sandbanks Hotel and Christian Schneider from Monty’s Lounge who outlined the importance of locally sourced and home-grown food and how looking after the wellbeing of staff had a positive impact on productivity and retention.

Our research revealed that one in five of us take a ‘health holiday’ at least once a year and 59 per cent of us would opt for a coastal rather than an urban or rural setting, giving enormous opportunity for product development.
