My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 1 John 2:1
MISSION STATEMENT
Heritage School provides a distinctive classical Christ-centered education that prepares students for servant leadership and lives that glorify God.

Prisons and Schools

One of my favorite blogs is written by Dr. Tim Elmore of Growing Leaders. Dr. Elmore addresses issues revolving around youth and culture with an eye towards developing young men and women who are prepared to lead versus simply exist. I’ve found his posts exceptionally insightful and meaningful over the years. It may be because he seems to see things as I do regarding....Continue Reading>>>

Lost:

Gold Chain and Cross Pendant lost at the Junior High Football game on September 24.  If found please turn into Rebecca Shipman or April Klepac.  Thank you.
ATTENTION PARENTS:  PLEASE do not park in either of the circle drives in front of the school. These are  fire lanes as well as drive through lanes and you are hindering the flow of traffic if you park your car there.  Please use the provided parking spaces if you need to park and come into the school.

Grammar School Headlines

Kindergartners--have enjoyed searching for the letters they have learned in books.  We have spelled and read the words hog and log.
1st Graders--completed their study of The Creation Week in Science and enjoyed a field trip to Majik Theatre in San Antonio to see the play, "Flat Stanley," with Kindergarten and Second grade.
2nd Graders--finished learning all the lower case cursive letters and went to the play "Flat Stanley" with Kindergarten and First Grade.
3rd Graders--enjoyed studying insects that class members brought from home.
4th Graders--have learned about locating things on the earth using latitudes and longitudes. Today (Friday) we are going geocaching around Fredericksburg.  It's a global treasure hunt and it's a lot of fun!
5th Graders--have enjoyed learning about Caravaggio and his artwork. We also have finished our first novel of the year, "Where the Red Fern Grows." (sniff sniff, tissue please) We have completed our literature study with a detailed book report and a nature study of ferns.

4th Grade Heritage School Tea Party

In order to experience what it might have been like to live in colonial America and pay unfair taxes, last week the fourth grade at Heritage paid many "taxes" with pennies all week, such as a stamp tax, a backpack tax, and even a restroom tax.  By the end of the week, most of the children had completely run out of pennies.  On Friday our terrific room moms helped us hold a Boston Tea Party decorated in red, white, and blue.  We had patriotic cookies and tea.  Afterwards we dumped out our tea in protest of all those taxes, just like the colonists did.  Ask a fourth grader how he or she feels about "taxation without representation"!

3rd Graders Challenge Heritage School...

Last Week to Collect!

Third graders gave a Heritage Hunger Buster skit in their chapel service inviting students to bring canned goods to school for the FBG Food Pantry.

Third graders will be collecting food donations for the month of September.

Hungry to Help!  September is National Hunger Awareness Month.  Heritage 3rd graders invite you to be “Hungry to Help” and halt the spread of hunger in Fredericksburg by bringing food to the school for our local Food Pantry Social Services.   You may begin bringing the food now and throughout the month of September and place it in the boxes provided.   Our school goal is to collect 1000 pounds!  In order to do that, we need your help.  Canned meat and soups are good things to bring as well as canned juice and instant cereals or nutrition bars.  While you are buying, think about Box Top items so you earn bonus box top points in coupons for our school.  You can find a long list of products on the Box Tops website.  There are many that the Food Pantry could use – Bisquick, Gold Medal Flour, Cheerios, Total, Hamburger Helper, Progresso soups, Welch’s jellies, Cottonelle products and much more!

SCRIP

WHAT IS SCRIP? SCRIP cards are gift cards from retailers that Heritage purchases at a discount and resells to parents and friends at face value. With every SCRIP purchase, our school earns a 1%-60% rebate, depending on the store. Scrip cards can be purchased for a variety of items including groceries, gasoline, clothing, restaurants, and many more vendors.

HOW DOES IT WORK? Families order online each week. The school approves the order at the beginning of the week. Families send a check to school OR can pay online. The SCRIP cards are sent home with the student by the end of the week.

NEW TO SCRIP? Each family can set up an account on ShopWithSCRIP.com and purchases SCRIP cards online. When registering, use the enrollment code for Heritage School of 2L3L669314532.??

EXISTING ACCOUNTS? Current SCRIP users should sign on to www.ShopWithScrip.com and choose “Change Profile/Password” to update your account with your student’s 2014-2015 grade and teacher.
