Lesson 862: How Should I Give? Pt.7
God’s rewards are not the motive for our giving. We simply trust God’s promises.
Luke 6:38 Jesus said, “give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
Pastor David Jeremiah tells the story about the inventor of dynamite. The inventor got rich selling explosives to governments worldwide for weapons of destruction.
When his brother died, the newspaper printed his obituary by mistake, and he read it.
The clipping said that he prospered by enabling people to kill each other in large numbers.
He had the rare opportunity to see an assessment of his life before he died, like Jimmy Stewart in the Christmas movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”.
The inventor was so shaken that he decided to use his fortune to encourage peace, and to reward accomplishments that benefited humanity.
His name was Alfred Nobel, and his gift is called the Nobel Peace Prize.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
