Lesson 861: How Should I Give? Pt.6
If we are reluctant to give, we will end up with a disappointing harvest. Yet if we give ourselves away, God will bring forth an abundant harvest. The world teaches just the opposite.
We give because God has given so much to us, and we want to share His blessings.
We are inspired by people who can’t really afford to give, yet they gladly make sacrifices.
Those who have been richly blessed often have trouble giving back 1% of what God gave them.
There are false teachers who say that if you give to their ministry, God will make you rich.
The truth is, there are many other ways God can bless us: growing in grace, spiritual riches, peace of mind, the satisfaction of knowing that you are obeying God’s will and helping others.
An example might be a person who faithfully gives to missions while living near poverty.
When they get to heaven, hundreds of new friends will be there for eternity thanks to the gift.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
