Lesson 865: How Should I Give? Pt.10
God doesn’t bless us to satisfy our selfish desires. God blesses us so that we will praise Him, and be able to do His will.
When we give, it sets off a chain-reaction.
God provides us with the ability to give, then the gift meets the needs of others, which blesses them, which causes them to praise God and thank Him.
If they are believers, they will pray for you with stronger faith and a bond of fellowship to you.
If they are unsaved, the gift could be the trigger that leads to a relationship with you. This relationship in turn could lead to you sharing the Gospel with them, leading to their salvation.
God’s indescribable gift to us is Jesus Christ.
Human artists try to paint pictures of Him.
Composers write beautiful music about Him.
Pastors and teachers speak & write books.
But no human can begin to do justice to Him. How can we describe Christ’s gift of love?
Charles Gabriel comes pretty close with the words to the old hymn, My Savior’s Love:
I stand amazed in the presence
of Jesus, the Nazarene,
and wonder how He could love me,
a sinner, condemned, unclean.
Oh how marvelous! Oh how wonderful!
Is my Savior's love for me!
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
