Students are getting their Kindles and reading like crazy!

Dear <<First Name>>,

It's a very busy time of year at the Kindle Classroom Project!

Students are reading tons of books and requesting new titles. Teachers are spending time getting to know their students as readers and making personalized book recommendations. Meanwhile, I'm charging and registering Kindles and getting them out to students as quickly as possible!

(If you don’t want to receive future issues, you can unsubscribe by clicking the link at the bottom of the newsletter.)

This Month's Highlights

- Teacher Marni (San Francisco, CA) is distributing Kindles left and right, which means tons of happy readers! Here's one of them!

- Student Luz (Hayward, CA) read 40 books on her Kindle last year. Here's a quick video in which she shares her thoughts about the program.

- More Kindles keep streaming in. Nearly every day, a Kindle arrives at my doorstep. Sometimes, thanks to generous donors, they come in six packs! (These new Fires are just $50 each.)

- 340 Kindles are going out to students in Oakland! Here are 60 of them charging at KCP Headquarters (aka my basement). (Don't worry, there was no fire.)

Next Steps This Month

- October is all about making sure KCP teachers and students feel comfortable using their Kindles and recording their reading progress on the new website. I'll also be responding quickly to students' book requests so they're reading all the time.

- It's also time to shoot footage for the first KCP film! Filmmaker Katie B. (San Francisco, CA) has generously donated her time to highlight a student's daily Kindle reading journey.

- I'm also working with a graphic designer on a new logo (thanks, Tammy) and an attorney to consider pursuing nonprofit status (thanks, Preeti). And of course, I'll continue writing thank-you cards to every single generous KCP supporter.

Want to Get Involved?

- Share your thoughts about the Kindle Classroom Project. What does the KCP mean to you? It's really easy: Check out the new testimonials page!

- Talk with your friends and family about the KCP. Word of mouth is the best way to grow the program. Follow the project at Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram — or register on the
website.

- Promote reading by making a monetary donation. The program costs, on average, $20 per student per year. Support 1 student or 5 students or an entire class (or any amount)!

Thank you again for all your support. Please let me know your thoughts and ideas!

Happy reading,
Mark Isero
Founder of the KCP
