Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness

Lesson 829: Kindness, Pt.2
God’s kindness is revealed in His creation.
The 4 seasons rotate like clockwork: winter-spring-summer and fall, century after century. The soil bears its fruit during the harvest, year after year.
The Lord designed and created the universe to be orderly, then watches over and sustains it. The laws of nature testify that God is consistently kind.
Psa.85:12 the Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase.
Psa.104:27-28 O Lord… all look to you, to give them their food in due season. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.
Some people think that God set the universe in motion, then walked away. But the Bible is clear that God is still involved in history, sustaining and caring for the world and all people.
Col.1:17 in [Christ] all things hold together
Psa.145:7, 9 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness… The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.
Matt.5:45 he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Luke 6:35 Jesus said, “love your enemies, and do good... [God] is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.”
God’s kindness, His common grace, is poured out on the godly and the ungodly, on those who are thankful and those who are not. To become more like Jesus, we must learn to be kind to all.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
