Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness

Lesson 828: Kindness, Pt.1
Kindness embraces many beautiful virtues. A kind person is caring, sympathetic, thoughtful, compassionate, and considerate. Showing kindness indicates that a person belongs to God.
The kindness of God is our example to follow. God’s kindness is also the source of our own kindness. When the Bible describes God as good, often it means kind.
God is good in the sense that He is holy (morally pure, sinless), but that fact doesn’t give us much hope. We could never approach God’s perfect holiness.
Rev.15:4 O Lord... you alone are holy.
Psa.83:18 you alone, whose name is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.
But because God is kind, we have great hope. We can be saved, and we can receive mercy.
Lev.22:32 I am the Lord who sanctifies you
It’s easy to be kind to friends and loved ones. When we are kind to someone, and they are ungrateful or reject our efforts, we might say, “I will never waste my time on them again!”
But God doesn’t give up on people who offend Him. God can enable us to be kind and good, no matter how others respond.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
