Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness

Lesson 831: Kindness, Pt.4
God is kind to those who are physically or emotionally afflicted, those who are in trouble or in poverty.
God is concerned about all who hope in Him… who have reverence and fear of God… who trust God and wait for Him.
As sinners we often show kindness to a very different list of special people. We tend to show extra kindness to those who are wealthy, powerful, healthy and strong.
The thief on the cross said:
Luke 23:42 “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
When we are kind to influential people, what is our motive? Do we hope they will remember us?
God is kind to those whom the world considers worthless. When God shows kindness, He never expects anything in return.
God’s kindness is purely an act of love.
1 Cor.1:27-28 God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world
James 2:2-5 if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing…
have you not become judges with evil thoughts? Hasn’t God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom?
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
