Lesson 845: Why Give? Pt.1
The secular world tells us not to share; they say, “The person who dies with the most toys wins.”
Everywhere we see mini-storage warehouses where people pay rent to store stuff they can’t use. But the Bible teaches that we should have an open, giving hand with material possessions.
Our open hand allows God to put in, & others to take out. Our hand is a channel for God’s grace.
If we close our fist tightly around our money, it causes the flow of God’s grace to stop. Corrie Ten Boom learned to hold on loosely. She said it hurt when God had to pry her fingers.
David Jeremiah points out that when we say something is mine, it reflects a worldly view.
In reality we own nothing; God owns everything and we are His temporary managers /stewards.
Anything we give God is just giving back part of the abundant blessing He has given us.
How well we manage what He has entrusted determines whether He gives us more.
Deu.8:18 remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
