Lesson 848: Why Give? Pt.4
2 Cor.8:1-5 We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.
For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints -
and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us.
All believers are sinners saved by God’s grace. God gave us life, eternal life and every blessing.
Then God calls us to embrace the privilege of offering part of it back to Him through His church.
Acts 20:35 we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
