Lesson 852: Why Give? Pt.8
2 Cor.8:7 teaches that giving money is an important act of grace, along with faith and devotion.
2 Cor.8:8 Giving is an important way for any Christian to demonstrate God’s love to others.
Giving tests the sincerity of our love. God will bless voluntary givers because God blesses love.
2 Cor.8:9 The most important reason for giving is to follow the example of Christ.
All of our material possessions are blessings from God; when we share, we bless others.
Phil.2:13 it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for (to desire and the ability to actually do) his good pleasure.
But Christ made Himself poor so that we might be spiritually rich with eternal life.
As Christians, we share in His riches: heirs of God, co-heirs with Christ. Rom.8:17
The King of kings emptied Himself for us. He set aside His glory and became flesh to save us.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
