Welcome to the 4th issue of the dlr PPN’s eZine

Welcome to this issue of the dlr PPN’s Ezine. Below you will find information on the DLR 2016 Grants Scheme, Parent and Toddler Grants, open consultations and events. Please forward this eZine to all members of your organisation and if you would like us to add any of your members to our mailing list, please contact us here.

 

DLRPPN Network Meeting
Tuesday 13th October
7pm - 9pm (refreshments from 6.30pm)
The Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan (formerly the Stillorgan Park Hotel)


At this meeting we will be discussing the 2016 DLR Grants Scheme, and will be organising a mechanism for you to get feedback from the PPN representatives on the various SPCs.  We would like to encourage you and your members to attend this Plenary.
 
DLR Grant Scheme 2016 now open for applications
Closing Date 2nd November

 
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council have announced that the 2016 dlr Grant Scheme is now open for applications.
The purpose of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to individuals, groups and organisations engaged in projects, events or developments at local or county level.  These grants will encourage the development of as broad a range of local community activities and services as possible, and ensure that the limited financial resources available are used to the maximum benefit of the community at large.

Parent and Toddler Grants available
Closing Date for applications Friday 9th October
The Dún Laoghaire County Childcare Committee currently have Parent and Toddler Grants available for not for profit parent and toddler groups. This is open to groups that have not already received funding from the County Childcare Committee for 2015. Their closing date has been extended to this Friday, 9th October. The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER) is holding a public consultation about best practice in consulting citizens about public policy and services. The consultation is open until Friday, 9th October 2015. Please click here for more information.

 
Killiney Road and Ballinclea Road Accident Investigation and Prevention Scheme – Open for submissions until 23rd October

In 2008, WSP Consulting Engineers were appointed to review traffic collisions in the Killiney / Ballinclea area and if necessary develop a road safety scheme. As part of this review the traffic speeds and volumes were assessed. Due to on-going safety concerns, the Traffic Section in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council re-assessed the accidents records in 2014. Due to the identified accident history, the DLRCoCoTraffic Section have developed an Accident Investigation and Prevention Scheme and are now seeking your thoughts and comments. Festival of Inclusion, commencing this Friday, 9th October


The Festival of Inclusion is taking place from Friday, 9th October and includes the dlr BIG Sing, Mountains to the Sea downhill challenge and much much more. Please click here for more information on the Festival. 


Core Credit Union dlr Community 5K - Saturday 10th October


Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown takes on the Core Credit Union dlr Community 5K once again!
 
The Core Credit Union dlr Community 5K returns in full force on the 10th October at 2pm. Now in its 7th year, it has become a landmark event for the County. More than 1,400 people ran, jogged, walked or rolled the 5km scenic route around Kilbogget Park, Ballybrack last year and numbers look set to rise again for 2015.
 
Taking place during the ‘Festival of Inclusion’, this annual 5km event prides itself on being fully-inclusive, suitable for all ages, abilities and fitness levels. With a DJ on hand to add to the electrifying atmosphere, each participant receives a t-shirt at sign-in and refreshments on crossing the finish line. Children taking part in the event will also each receive a medal.

dlr LexIcon Live ‘Train Your Brain’ – Saturday 10th October

Taking place this Saturday from 11am – 4pm, this interactive workshop explores how motor skills, verbal skills, visual perception, memory and critical thinking can be enhanced by learning through play.  For more information please click here
