October 2015
Hello, friends -
While the Autumnal Equinox officially marks the first day of Fall, the changing of the seasons is marked by many other things including incredible sunsets and the welcome sound of rain on our rooftops. Hooray!
Fall conjures many things for many people. We were just reflecting at a recent staff meeting on the fading glory of the summer garden giving way to the blank slate and more subdued palate of winter. This is a time of turning inward, reflecting on what serves us and letting go of what doesn't. It's also a time to bundle up, hold loved ones closer, and give thanks for the blessings in our lives. As always, we have so much to be grateful for at MEarth!
We were thrilled to see so many wonderful attendees at our 3rd annual Glass Pumpkin Patch of Carmel fundraiser. The participating artists: Nick Leonoff, Kevin Chong, Todd Moore, Alan Masaoka, and Mark Stephenson really outdid themselves again this year, putting on a dazzling display! And the food was out of this world. Executive Chef David Baron of Casanova Restaurant and his team wow-ed Saturday's attendees with a delicious selection of seasonal goodies, while Mixologist Katie Blandin of BarCart Cocktail Co. whipped up some delicious garden-inspired sodas, complete with straws made from the stems of lovage. So creative!
Sunday's chefs hailed from Basil Seasonal Dining, Carmel Honey Company, Carmel Valley Ranch, Portola Hotel & Spa, and the Santa Lucia Preserve and did not disappoint in their ingenious culinary skills! The gourmet food, along with the live music and fall gardens, makes this is an event that appeals to all senses.
Tremendous thanks again to our stellar staff, Board, unstoppable volunteer crew, and our SUPER event sponsors:
These wonderful events help generate much needed funds to keep the property looking beautiful and our programs going strong! As events like this grow, so does the ability to share the magic of MEarth with more kids from across Monterey County, like these students from Monterey Peninsula Unified's Afterschool Academy, who learned all about healthy cooking and gardening earlier this year.
Another way you can support our work--while expanding your wine collection--is by participating in our INCREDIBLE "Instant" Wine Cellar Opportunity Drawing. With over 66 bottles (view the complete list), tastings/ATV tours, and a 31-bottle wine refrigerator, the lucky winner will be stocked and ready to throw an incredible party! Tickets are $25 each or five for $100. The whole package is valued at over $2,000! To purchase tickets, call our office at (831)-624-1032. The drawing will happen November 17th, just in time for holiday entertaining!
Last but not least, MEarth is HIRING! We are looking for a qualified candidate to fill a Program Assistant position. A full job description can be found here. Please help us find the right person for the job, and thanks in advance for spreading the word in your networks.
May the new season bring you many new blessings!
