You're Invited to Caldera's 2015 Portland Stories of Change!

Join us for our annual Portland Stories of Change! Together we will celebrate Caldera youth and the impact creativity and mentoring has made in their lives. Portland Stories of Change will be held on Wednesday, November 18 at Castaway. To purchase a table or tickets, email Beth Bambrick by November 6.
A big thanks to all those who supported and attended the Central Oregon Stories of Change! You helped us raise over $116,000 to support Caldera's Youth Program! View photos from the event here.
November 5 & 14: Fallen Fruit of Portland
Fallen Fruit of Portland had a stellar opening day on October 24! If you missed the events that day, you can see photos here and there are still more opportunities to view and be involved in these exciting projects.

On Thursday, November 5, we will be hosting a special First Thursday at the Wieden+Kennedy Gallery (224 NW 13th Ave. Portland) from 5:30 p.m–8 p.m. The exhibition, The Culture of We, showcases over 100 works of art by 75 Caldera students and is a companion to Paradise at the Portland Art Museum.

We will also be presenting, Urban Fruit Trail, on Saturday, November 14 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., where you can adopt your own fruit tree and participate in a public planting project.
October 30: OneBeat Performs in Sisters
Caldera is honored to host OneBeat, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs comprised of 25 emerging musical leaders from around the world, this week.

OneBeat conducted public music workshops at The Museum at Warm Springs on Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30. Watch a film from these workshops here. Additionally, they have a special performance at Sisters High School Auditorium tonight, October 30 at 7:00 p.m. $10 for adults, $5 youth 18 and under. View and share the Facebook event with your friends.

The 2015-2016 school year has begun! Our high school students have been participating in dance and painting workshops, as well as some fun community outings. See the calendar of high school events on our website. Caldera middle school youth, in classes at our 12 Arts Partner middle schools, have been creating graffiti sun drawings and learning about the color wheel as they express their energy through the image of the sun.

Also, as part of Fallen Fruit of Portland (see above) our students collaborated with professional artists, David Burns and Austin Young, to curate The Culture of We student artwork exhibit at Wieden+Kennedy!
Caldera is one of the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon

Caldera has been named one of the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon for the fifth time! A big thank you to Oregon Business magazine for bringing recognition to nonprofits around the state and to the Caldera community for making Caldera a great place to work.

Caldera has also been named one of the top 50 finalists for the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program award for the fourth time. The recipients of this award will be announced in November. Stay tuned to see if Caldera is selected for this high honor!
