The San Leandro Community Turns Out for Beautification Day- Thank You!
Twelve school sites in the San Leandro Unified School District were swarming with volunteers last Saturday, October 3, for the annual Beautification Day clean up. Volunteers cleared gardens, scraped gum, hauled garbage and washed surfaces to help make the campuses shine for students.
Thank you to the community groups and businesses who supported this event especially Kaiser Permanente, Coca-Cola Company, Supervisor Wilma Chan, and Heritage Baptist Church. This event could not happen without the hours of planning by SLUSD staff and administrators and the enthusiasm of the site project leaders, community leaders, parents, and students (even students from Arroyo High School).
You Can Bring Teachers' Projects to Life at Half the Cost!
You can double the impact of your Donors Choose donation on many of the local Donors Choose teacher projects. Many projects have offers to pay for half of the project cost IF someone
like you helps to fund the remainder. By completing the project, you will double the impact of your donation.
Another way help fund teacher projects is at the fuel pump. Chevron is working with DonorsChoose.org to help K-12 teachers in Alameda and Contra Costa public schools to get the supplies they need for eligible classroom projects through the Fuel Your School Campaign. From Oct 1 until Oct 31, fuel up with 8 gallons or more at participating Chevron and Texaco stations and Chevron will donate $1 up to $1million.
Current projects in the San Leandro Unified School District include request for technology, PE equipment, books, modified seating and furniture, and even a DRONE!
