RCC helps researchers analyse the world in 3D
RCC has developed some novel techniques to visualise hydrodynamic models, working with UQ’s School of Civil Engineering.
RCC research analyst Oliver Cairncross has worked with Dr Badin Gibbes and Dr Dave Callaghan from the School to develop a flow data application that makes it much easier for researchers to spot and analyse patterns. Read more

Dr Nick wins ARC grant and is keynoter in Indonesia
RCC's Dr Nick Hamilton was awarded an ARC grant in the funding round announced on 30 October.
Dr Nick, and co-researcher Associate Professor Ian Smyth of Monash University, will receive $488,100 across 2016–2018 for their research on 'Morphological development of the kidney—a paradigm for organogenesis'.
It was a week of career highs as Dr Nick was also a keynote speaker on 3 November at the third Indonesian Mathematical Society (IndoMS) International Conference on Mathematics and its Applications (IICMA).
Nick's talk was on the structure of the kidney and mathematical modelling of kidney development.

UQ projects win top prizes at HealthHack Brisbane
The team that took on a challenge from UQ’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) won first prize at HealthHack Brisbane 2015, held 23–25 October.
The team—which included data hackers from Halfbrick Studios, the Brisbane video game company that created Fruit Ninja—developed PainPal, a holistic pain management app involving diagnostic, management and information components. It aims to bring patients and their families, researchers and clinicians together to address problems.
RCC co-sponsored the event. Read more

RCC helps develop HPC program at local high school
RCC has joined a project to provide high performance computing opportunities to students at Faith Lutheran College, Redlands.
HPC@FLC is a collaborative initiative between the Brisbane school, RCC, the Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology (QASMT), and Melbourne's John Monash Science School, where RCC Director Prof David Abramson, formerly of Monash University, first helped to introduce a similar program.
As part of HPC@FLC, two students—Travis Jacob and Harrison Cook—will attend SC15, a supercomputing conference in Austin, Texas from 15–20 November.
