Welcome home, all of you Bobcat Centralites who are returning to Athens for Homecoming--can't wait to see you on Sunday!

And to those who can't make it, we miss you!

Wednesday Prayer

There is a group that gathers each Wednesday evening, starting at 5:15pm, in the sanctuary at Westside, to pray.  They meet for an hour to cover our church in prayer, to pray for personal requests, as well as to pray for our local community and the wider world.  This is a great group to be a part of if you have been seeking ways to work toward a richer prayer life, or if you have a heart for those who are hurting.  Feel free to join any week, no need to RSVP.  If you'd like more information, send an e-mail!

Friends & Neighbors Trip

It's time for our monthly trip to Friends & Neighbors Food Pantry in Coolville! We will be going together to help with stocking the shelves in the pantry, eat lunch with the community, and then assist people as they shop through the pantry. If you are interested in joining, gather at the Westside at 9:45 on Wednesday morning to carpool there!

Conversation on Homelessness

On Sunday, October 25th, Good Works will be hosting a public meeting/conversation on homelessness in the Athens area. The event will take place at Central Westside, from 3:00-4:30pm. There will also be discussion about the services Timothy House provides, and some of the changes Good Works has made over the last year. We hope to come together as a community to learn about this important work, and to learn how we can support the staff through the challenges they are currently facing! Find more information online.

"Throughout my time at Ohio University over the past four years, Central has been an integral part of my college experience.  During move-in weekend of my freshman year, my older brother walked my twin and me all the way over to the Westside for our first college church experience.

"There, we met some guys who led
Young Life, and we immediately gained a community that we could lean on while most of the campus went crazy with the newfound sense of freedom that college brings.

"As a Young Life leader, Central has hosted our leadership meetings every week.  I have had the unique opportunity of spending every Friday night of my college career hearing the Good News on the stained carpet at Central Avenue.  I wouldn't want to spend my weekends any other way.  Central is a safe place to hear a dangerous message."

Cooper and Sydney Shank are both Central and OU Alumni.
Cooper began attending Central the first weekend of his freshman year, and Sydney began attending during her senior year and continued through the completion of her graduate program.  They were married in the summer of 2015, and moved to Sandusky, Ohio where Cooper works as a high school English teacher, and Sydney works as an intervention specialist for K-4th grade.  After serving as leaders in
Athens County Young Life, they are now part of a five-leader team which serves the entire area in Firelands Young Life.
