welcome to the october edition of my newsletter!

I am delighted to share new art with you, straight off the design wall! Urban Perspectives is ready to go out into the world.

This piece fits right into my City Lines series of work, which is based on New York City in all its configurations. Urban Perspectives brings together quite a few elements of what inspire me in NYC: shiny skyscrapers, old stone architecture, dilapidated street signs. Even fire escapes are represented in this work, although you'll have to search for them...

I am continuing to revel in my current favorite material: plastic shopping bags. Reclaiming them for art is very satisfying. Experimenting with layers, color gradations and textures is fulfilling. The newest challenge to me is using the printed parts of the recycled bags as texture. In the header above and the detail below of Urban Perspectives, you can get a glimpse of what I mean by creating texture with words.

This artwork measures 48 inches by 48 inches (122cm by 122cm) and is mounted on stretched canvas. If you'd like to see Urban Perspectives in person, come visit my studio. My contact information is at the bottom of this newsletter. Thank you!

Below are a few images to show you what's in the works in my studio. I am starting to hand stitch on a new Home Portrait commission and working on a few quick collages that I think I'll call Architectural Scraps.
