The October Donate Lifeline
Lifesavers Breakfast
RSVP today for the biggest Donate Life Northwest gathering of the year! This year’s Lifesavers Breakfast takes place Thursday, November 5th at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. Join 500 special guests – be sure to email eganv@ohsu.edu to save your seat!

We’re sure you’ll be inspired by our keynote speaker Mark Williams, a liver transplant recipient whose gratitude, eloquence and warm spirit will start your day off right. Funds raised at the Breakfast go directly into our public outreach programs, which register and educate the good people of Oregon and Southwest Washington about organ, eye and tissue donation. Halloween Hero Hangers

Halloween Hero Hangers

We've got a great way for you and your family to not only have some fun this Halloween, but also help raise awareness. Take part in this year's 'Halloween Hero Hanger' campaign! Check out the video above.

Why Halloween? It's the perfect opportunity to let your local community know that you're not only trick-or-treating for candy, but you're also out there to help educate, share our mission, and help to save and improve lives. If someone isn't home, you just leave the hanger on their doorknob. Each hanger has information about organ, eye and tissue donation. BONUS: The hanger itself can be cut-out and turned into a finger puppet super hero cape.

Make sure to take a few photos of you and your family in costume with the hangers and email them to us at webbema@ohsu.edu. Have a great Halloween!

Have a little faith this November

When someone we know dies, it can call attention to the importance of the spiritual dimension of life. And when faced with the decision of donation during the trauma of a loved one’s death, the question often arises, “What is my religion’s stance on organ and tissue donation?”  Most people are not aware of their faith’s doctrine or position regarding organ and tissue donation.  As a result, the decision maker often looks to a faith leader for an informed answer. This November, with your help, we can educate individuals and save more lives.

We invite you to join us in celebrating the National Donor Sabbath this November 13-15. This national observance is a time for people of all religions to honor those who have given the precious gift of organ, eye and tissue donation. Every year during this special time, donation and transplant organizations work closely with faith communities to bring the message of donation to congregations nationwide.

Faith plays a significant role in the decision to register as a donor. All major religions support organ, eye and tissue donation, and believe it to be a final act of kindness and generosity.
