How's things? The transition into a new season has been a hectic one for me, and it's hard to believe we're three-quarters through the year! One of my friends was telling me that she likes The Scrap Basket because she personally doesn't take time to peruse the web and see what's new, and basically I do that for her with this newsletter. I thought that was an interesting 'take', and replied, "glad I can help!" I'd love to hear your feedback too ...

WHAT'S UP

After featuring whole cloth quilts in a recent issue, I couldn't help but make one myself. You can see and read about mine, check out Issue 8 if you missed it, and just for fun, I'm collecting them on a Whole Cloth Quilts Pinterest board.

WORTH A READ

ON TREND

[flavorpink] started it all on a lark, but boy did it take off..."like baseball cards for cool people." The #miniminiquiltswap is going strong, and have you ever seen such quilty cuteness? About 4" square, folks are really having fun making and swapping these tiny quilts!
Yvonne/Quilting Jet Girl has Mini Mini Madness, creating numerous mini minis right from her scrap bin. [quiltingjetgirl]
Kitty/Night quilter has found making the mini minis highly addictive, and I can sure see why! [nightquilter]

Michelle/Michelle Bartholomew Handmade Quilts is obsessing over the tiny goodness as well, creating a darling assortment of mini minis!

I got a kick out of Jayne/Twiggy & Opal, who posted I Am A Mini Mini Quilt 2 weeks ago, and then this last weekend confessed
...And the Fixation Continues...[twiggyandopal]

What fun! Check out the
#miniminiquiltswap if you want to see more or join in, and I hear there's a helpful post on how to bind tiny things by crazy mom quilts.

YOU ASKED . . .

Last week when I lectured at the Fidalgo Island Quilters, they wanted to know how I mark my quilts for quilting. I often use my walking foot as a guide, but when I do need to mark, I almost always use my hera marker. It makes a crease, rather than an actual mark, is easy to follow, and doesn't need to be removed. My only hint - just mark a few lines at a time, quilt, then mark several more. If you marked the whole quilt before any quilting, some lines might be diminished by the time you needed them.

P.S. I do love a free tutorial! Check out Noodlehead's Ten-Square Quilt mini tutorial for a quick, colorful quilt!
