SAM'S CENTS

Community

Are you part of a book club? Or a tennis group? Or a church or synagogue? These are the groups that form the fabric of your community. Beyond friends and family, it is great to have a group of people that give you a strong, reassuring sense of belonging. For some people, a community is a combination of concentric circles - their church, their Mommy and Me group and their Wednesday night painting class. For others, it is their school PTA or their block of neighbors or the group they do cross-fit with. You want to have a sense of your community before you need them - communities help us through life's transitions, unexpected calamities and even celebrations.

Picture doing trapeze with that big net above the ground to catch you: That is your life with a community. You need that net. If you don't yet have one, it is never too late to start.
