Thank You For Having Faith In Women!

Greetings,

It’s hard to believe that we’re going to be seeing one another, and 3,000 other women who’ve registered for the Inaugural Women’s Assembly and Program Initiative at the 2015 Parliament, in less than a week!

It’s amazing that we’ve been able to pull this together in such a short time, with a tiny budget, part-time staff person  (shout out to Haley St. Paul followed by Miriam Quezada) and of course the support of the great Parliament staff.  But we’ve done it!
Phyllis Curott, J.D. H.Ps.
Vice Chair, Parliament of the World’s Religions
Chair, Women’s Task Force
With your fascinating and important ideas for programming and generous donations to our Global Sisters Fund, we have great programming, amazing speakers, panelists and presenters, and dozens of women from all over the world receiving scholarships so they can participate.  Thank you for your participation and your support, we know it has contributed to this historic turn out.

We are also very excited to share with you that the Assembly Major Speaker sessions and a number of our panels on Assembly day and during the Parliament will be streaming live so that women all over the world will be able to view, comment and participate in our gathering.

Pre-Register here if you're interested:  http://tinyurl.com/StreamTheParliament

We ask you to share it through your elists, other social media and with followers so women all over the world can still be with us.

And more good news, thanks to a grant from the Rachel and Ben Vaughan Foundation, we’ll be filming much of our programming to make it available online at a later date.

We want to update you on Assembly and Initiative plans. The Women's Assembly will run from 9am-5pm on October 15th. Due to our increasing registration numbers, to keep the event dynamic and engaged, we've re-organized the schedule:
  • Opening Prayer 9am-9:15am
  • Major Speakers Session I 9:15am-10:30am
  • Panels Session I 10:45am-12pm
  • Lunch 12pm-1pm LANGAR
  • Major Speakers Session II 1pm-2:15pm
  • Panels Session II 2:30pm-3:45pm
  • Closing Ceremony 4pm-5pm
Langar, a delicious vegetarian meal, is being prepared and served by the Sikh Community to all the attendees of the Assembly, and for everyone every day of the Parliament, for free!

Your voice is important so we’ve sought to include many different ways to assure that it’s heard at the Assembly and during the Parliament! There are 2 Assembly sessions called Circles and Conversations, with the help of Jean Bolen and the Millionth Circle, for women to learn circle practice, if they wish, and to engage with one another, build relationships, explore issues and share action strategies.

There will be a chance for those of you who love to move and dance to practice and participate in the One Billion Rising Dance that will conclude our Women's Plenary, Friday October 16 and 10:30 a.m.

And this will immediately be followed by the Women’s Multi-faith Peace Walk, led by Elana Rozenman and an amazing group of women from Salt Lake City and around the world, through the Salt Palace and the Open Mike for women’s sharing at 12:15p.m. in Ballroom C.

Room 252AB is our Women’s Sacred Space, open throughout the Assembly and Parliament for women’s services, ceremonies, rites and rituals, and for daily silent meditation and reflection. A gorgeous Red Tent is being erected within the space by Alisa Starkweather and may be used or moved aside as you prefer.

A daily schedule will be posted outside the room and online in the program app and you can schedule the space by contacting Miriam at miriam@parliamentofreligons.org.

Please be sure to check the Parliament Program app for Women’s Program Initiative updates and changes to room locations, panel times, etc.

If you haven’t already done so, we ask that you please join Nobel laureates Mairead Maguire and the Dalai Lama in signing the Women's Declaration.

We’re attaching a copy of our updated flyer which we hope you’ll share with your e-lists, social media and followers. You’ll see that we now have a special day rate for the Assembly and a discount for women who wish to register for the Parliament. Women who are registered for the Parliament and wish to attend the assembly day for free, we've got you covered. You can register for the Women's Assembly at no extra cost on our website

Your help in spreading the message about the Women’s Assembly and Declaration is hugely important  - together we can reach thousands of women around the world.

Please keep an eye out for emails with scheduling and other information, check and participate in the conversation on our FB page Women At The Parliament and on twitter with the #FaithInWomen.

And please be patient if there are scheduling or other problems - like too many people in too small spaces, long waits for lunch or long walks through the huge conference space. With your help, we’ve managed to create an historic event in record time and what will be perfect is the energy, wisdom and love that we generate together!

Thank you for your participation and support - we are so looking forward to seeing you soon and to our time together.

My best,

Phyllis Curott
