Schools Are Going To Shine Brighter This Saturday-Come Join the Fun!
The San Leandro Education Foundation and the San Leandro Unifies School District invite you to join the San Leandro Community - parents, teachers, students, service groups, faith-based groups, and businesses - to spruce up SLUSD schools THIS Saturday, October 3.
Projects begin at all 13 school sites at 9 am and will be completed between 12 and 1 pm. No skills are required- just bring your smile and your enthusiasm (and maybe your work gloves)! Painting, gardening and general cleanup are on the list to accomplish at each school. It is a fun way to meet new people and work together for a great cause! You will walk away with a sense of accomplishment and confidence, knowing that, come Monday, students, teachers and administrators and will be reminded that we care.
Thank you to the groups and businesses who have already committed to supporting this event. Kaiser Permanente, Coca-Cola Company, Supervisor Wilma Chan's Office, Peter Oshinski, and Heritage Baptist Church.
You Can Bring Teachers' Projects to Life at Half the Cost!
You can double the impact of your Donors Choose donation on many of the local Donors Choose teacher projects. Many projects have offers to pay for half of the project cost IF someone
like you helps to fund the remainder. By completing the project, you will double the impact of your donation.
Another way help fund teacher projects is at the fuel pump. Chevron is working with DonorsChoose.org to help K-12 teachers in Alameda and Contra Costa public schools to get the supplies they need for eligible classroom projects through the Fuel Your School Campaign. From Oct 1 until Oct 31, fuel up with 8 gallons or more at participating Chevron and Texaco stations and Chevron will donate $1 up to $1million.
Current projects in the San Leandro Unified School District include request for technology, PE equipment, books, modified seating and furniture, and even a DRONE!
