The Golden Hour

This week I counseled a mom whose morning routine completely stressed her out. She felt like a dog chasing its tail. When I went through the play by play, I saw a missed opportunity. This wonderful and well intentioned mom wasn't taking advantage of The Golden Hour, the hour before your kids wake up. You use this hour to shower, get dressed for the day, make breakfast and basically prepare to take your day head on. If you don't wake up significantly ahead of the kids, you will always feel like you are a step behind.

Lose an hour of sleep, you say?! No! Go to bed an hour earlier and wake an hour earlier. As Olympian Summer Sanders likes to say, “Any sleep you get before midnight counts as quality sleep doubled."
