ENVI Committee rejects GMO imports proposal
EuropaBio welcomes MEPs’ vote calling for the rejection of the Commission’s patchwork proposal allowing national bans on the use of safe EU approved products on the basis of non-scientific criteria. The Commission should take heed of the outcome of the vote by the EU’s democratically elected body and withdraw its harmful and disproportionate proposal. The only viable solution for fixing the malfunctioning GMO approval system is to authorise safe products within legally prescribed timelines. Read more
