The following newsletter is our Quarterly Mobilized Church Update including the NAMB Trustee Report, this update is different from the Monthly Church Planter Support Newsletter and specifically for mobilized partners with SEND New Orleans. We pray the information is helpful in communicating how your partnership in the gospel is transforming the city of New Orleans. 

The Louisiana Baptist Convention, New Orleans Baptist Association, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and the North American Mission Board are so grateful for your partnership in the gospel here in New Orleans. Your partnership is helping us fulfill our SEND New Orleans vision:

NEW NAMB LOGO REFLECTS GOAL TO MOVE CHURCHES TO ACTION
As the North American Mission Board continues to refine our evangelistic church planting strategy to bring sharper focus to our role in assisting churches to take the gospel to North America, we have embraced a new look representing our core purpose–every church on mission.

NAMB president Kevin Ezell says, “In it’s simplest form, NAMB is a missional network that helps connect every Southern Baptist church to their next missional opportunity. We hope these steps ultimately lead churches to become involved locally in their communities, throughout North America and around the globe in evangelistic church planting. We realize the first step for many churches is just helping them get their members out of the pews and into ministry action.”

NAMB’s new look denotes the desire to see church members moving from pews to action–every church on mission. NAMB strives to assist pastors with the tools and support they need to fulfill their calling to lead the local church.
With the overwhelming responsibilities and needs in ministry, it is easy to focus on our own church and lose sight of our support role towards a church plant. Here are some practical ways you can serve and support your church plant starting today.
 
PLANTER SUPPORT IDEAS
  • Baby shower for expecting planters. Have your church host a baby shower for an expectant planter. A partner church hosted a shower last year and provided a planting couple with diapers, baby food and clothes, and a freezer FULL of food. What a blessing! 
  • Monthly Volunteers for childcare during Worship. SEND New Orleans has several partner churches that take one worship service a month and send a volunteer team to do childcare. This allows overworked volunteers to come and worship with their church family.
  • Date night and childcare for a planter. One of the greatest barriers planters face in cultivating a healthy marriage, is simply finding childcare and resources to make it happen. Plan to send a team down to provide childcare and a dinner gift card. I promise it will be a blessing. 
  • Church Planter Profiles prayer strategy. The greatest partnership a planter can have is a faithful church praying for their family and work. Visit the NAMB website and download church planter profiles today, click here for SEND New Orleans Church Planter Profiles. 
  • Hosting a Global Impact Conference at your church. Having a church planter come and share at a GIC is a powerful way to communicate and challenge your church to participate in local and global missions.   • Pastor Appreciation Month. Unlike many established churches with a rich tradition of pastor appreciation, church plants reaching un-churched and de-churched people rarely have a background in pastor appreciation. NAMB wants to invite churches to participate in SENDING labs. These are great workshops that provide insight and resources into how churches can be the best SENDING church possible. If you are a SENDING church currently, or considering being a SENDING church in the future, you want to register for an upcoming SENDING lab at the North American Mission Board. Below are upcoming SENDING lab dates, take time to register and join other pastors and mission leaders from across North America as they learn how to equip their church to be a SENDING church.

The following is the July-September Trustee Report. The Quarterly Trustee report is a tremendous resource providing information about the ministry taking place in New Orleans. SEND New Orleans TOP 10 Church Planting Opporunities

1. Military Church Plant in Belle Chase. NAS JRB New Orleans is one of two Joint Reserve Bases in the country that serve and house commands from various branches of the Armed Services. Nearly 5,400 military, Department of Defense civilian employees and contractors work at the base daily, and approximately 1,700 family members live in more than 900 housing units. http://www.cnic.navy.mil 

2. Westbank Arabic Plant (There is an estimated 8k Arabic People in New Orleans. We need an Arabic speaking panter)

3. Hispanic Work in Metairie - There is a large demographic of Hispanics in Metairie we need a hispanic planter and sponsor church.

5.East New Orleans- This location is in a primary African American neighborhood that is in desperate need of a gospel-centered church plant.

6.East New Orleans Vietnamese Community- We need a Vietnamese speaking planter for a large Vietnamese population in East New Orleans. 7. Lower Ninth Ward- This area has long been an underserved underprivileged area, but it is going through a demographic change and beginning some gentrification. This is a hard area, with incredible potential. 8. Kenner/Metairie South of I/10.

9. Irish Channel Area- This are is a Multi-Ethnic community on the South side of uptown that borders the MS River. 10. Central City- This area is one of our most difficult locations. High crime, diversity, gentrification, poverty…etc. It is a rapidly changing community with a very long history of violence and crime. Here is a brief overview of Central City. http://www.neworleans.me/know/about/11/Central-City
SEND New Orleans would like to invite your staff and leadership to a one day Gospel Life Plan Workshop. 

The Gospel Centered Life Plan is a resource for individuals and families to set measurable goals as they seek to love God, lead well, and live the gospel. Gospel Life Plan resources will be provide for all participants in digital and document forms. Here is a sample of a "Couples" Gospel Life Plan. You will receive, Student, Couple, and Adult versions at the Workshop. 



The Gospel Life Plan Workshop is most useful when you and your spouse attend together. I think this is one of the most practical discipling tools you can implement both personally and corporately. Make it a priority to join us as we lay the foundation for creating a Gospel Life Plan. 

We are hosting this event at the Vintage Arts Center in New Orleans. There will be an hour and a half break for you to catch lunch and relax together in one of the many fine restaurants on Magazine Street.

Catch The Vision Tours are a one day SEND New Orleans immersion trip for pastors and leaders in the local church. Churches will hear the strategy and vision for reaching the city of New Orleans and learn how they can lead their church to partner. Potential Partners will be encouraged and motivated as they hear from church planters across the New Orleans Metro Region.
