Grammar School Headlines

Kindergartners--are sounding out more three letter words.  We have begun to create a caterpillar of words we can read.
1st Graders--enjoyed making shapes on geoboards, identifying inside and out and counting with pennies.
2nd Graders--finished learning all the upper case cursive letters and ready to write in cursive.
3rd Graders--have been studying Indian tribes of America
4th Graders--learned the difference between the radius and the diameter of a circle in math class. We also drew different sized circles with compasses.
5th Graders--each dissected a daisy in our study of composite plants. We also made clay tablets from scratch and wrote our names in cuneiform, the style of writing used in Mesopotamia. We ended our week with a math project where students built shapes out of sugar cubes and calculated the volume.

Electives

Rockets and Robotics is a Rhetoric School Elective this year. Last week the class made paper airplanes with specified requirements.  They were tasked with achieving goals in control, landing, distance and duration of flight.  They demonstrated by attempting to fly the planes through the hoop.  The class is intended to serve as an introduction to rocket systems and robotics.  This week they start hydro rockets.

From the desk of Coach Tami Given:  Hupomone displayed at Ingram Cross Country by Heritage student.  The runner fell down and trampled at the start of the race. The race officials should have stopped and restarted the race but instead this Heritage Eagle stood up in last place, dusted the dirt off and began running. Within ¾ of mile, this Eagle had passed over 115 kids. I believe that to be a great example of perseverance with a purpose. I highlight this event as a great example from which to learn.  Make the choice to try even when the odds are not in your favor and never giving up.

From Coach Carol Bell's Court:  I want to shout out a huge thank you to Eagles school spirit at last nights tough volleyball match against San Marcos Hill Country!  'Hupomone' was totally shown.  Our fans pushed the bar a step higher to the first win against San Marcos for these Seniors in four years! Awesome Victory God allowed us to experience!  Thank you!  Loved the spirit shirts too!!

From Coach Short's Court:
Heritage 8th  grade team placed 4th out 8 teams. The team demonstrated good communication and leadership from setters and aggressive play at the net from the front row highlighted the weekend for the Heritage 8th grade team.  Heritage 6th and 7th grade team were the only young teams competing in a field of all 8th graders. They displayed fortitude and heart!!  Both teams can be proud of a job well done.

SCRIP

WHAT IS SCRIP? SCRIP cards are gift cards from retailers that Heritage purchases at a discount and resells to parents and friends at face value.
